Frequently asked questions:

Am I required to choose the roofing contractor that my insurance company has recommended?

In the state of Texas, you are NOT obligated to use the contractor that your insurance company has recommended. Even if your insurance company sends the company out to do an inspection on their behalf.

How do I choose the right roofing contractor?

You have the privilege of choosing the roofing company in whom you have the most confidence. Even if you get recommendations from various sources, it is your responsibility to research the companies. You do not have to go with the lowest bid, which is what your insurance company would like you to believe. Remember, an inexpensive roof is no bargain if you have problems, especially if your contractor is no longer around to honor the labor warranty. Be sure the company you choose is reputable, and local.

How often should I have my roof inspected by a pro?

To ensure the longevity of your roofing system and prevent future water intrusion, Choice Roofing suggests having it inspected by a professional after every heavy storm event.

When can I schedule the repairs to my home?

Temporary repairs will be handled with necessary urgency. Once your adjuster has provided you with settlement paperwork from your claim, you may begin working with a contractor as soon as you please.

Will my insurance company cover the cost of my repair?

In some cases, yes. However, in most cases, when a total replacement is not paid for by your insurance company, a simple roof repair cost is less than your deductible and will not be worth filing a claim on your policy. We understand that unplanned expenses can be stressful! Choice Roofing has financing options available if the repair cost is outside of your budget.

What will an inspector look for to determine damage to my roof?

Some of the most common items that our inspectors look for are:

  • Missing or damaged shingles

  • Damaged flashing

  • Signs of aging

  • Signs of water damage

What if my inspector finds damage?

If we determine that your roof is damaged, we will inform you of what we’ve found, and recommend the best and most cost-effective approach to make the necessary repairs.

What if my adjuster missed damages on his initial inspection?

Choice roofing can submit the required documentation to supplement the missing items on your behalf. Once approved, your adjuster will then add the cost of repairing those damages to your claim.

What if my insurance company denied my claim on the first inspection?

We like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, but at the end of the day insurance companies are for-profit companies who operate with their bottom line in mind. We also understand that sometimes you can draw an adjuster who is new to the industry, or just flat-out in a hurry trying to handle the high claim volume often associated with a regional hail and wind storm. If you were denied by your insurance company, but don’t feel at-ease about their decision due to factors such as your neighbors roofs being replaced, the damage to your vehicles, or the size of the hail damage, We will gladly take a second look and give you our professional opinion on whether or not you should file a re-inspection request with another representative from your insurance carrier.

Does Choice Roofing install “Class-4 Impact Resistant” shingles?

Yes, We have helped numerous homeowners save money by being able to qualify for a reduction on their insurance premium by upgrading them to Impact Resistant shingles.

Will checking my financing pre-approval status affect my credit score?

No. Your credit will not be affected by our preferred vendor’s pre-approval process.

Once I am approved for financing, how long will funding take?

Upon approval, you will typically get the funds in your account within 1-3 business days.

Why is my roof leaking?

Often, roof leaks are caused by one of six common factors: Hail and Wind damage, improper installation, issues with seams and valleys, aging of caulks and sealants, neglect, rooftop equipment & ventilation damage.

If I chose to use financing, what can I use it for?

You can use your financing for any and all parts of your project. Some of the most common items our customers use financing for include:

  • Deductible assistance

  • Shingle or roofing system upgrades

  • Additional home improvements not covered by their insurance claim

Can I inspect my own roof?

Although a homeowner can easily recognize missing or torn shingles, there are many other signs of damage that you may not know to look for. Having a professional like Choice Roofing inspect your roof is not only safer for you, but we can also detect damages that are not easily seen by the untrained eye.

Can I repair my roof myself?

We strongly discourage attempting DIY repairs on your roof. Not only does it pose significant dangers, but there might be crucial aspects that only a trained professional can identify. Additionally, lacking experience might lead to inadvertently causing further damage.

How long will a roof replacement or repair take to be performed?

Our experts can usually complete roof repairs within a couple of hours. In most cases, Choice Roofing can complete the removal and installation of your new roof in just one day!

How long should I expect my roof to last?

Depending on your geographical location this tends to really vary. Shingle manufactures usually classify a roofing material on a “best-case scenario”, Unfortunately in Texas, a 40-year shingle often doesn’t last near that long due to summer heat, winter ice and snow, seasonal hail and wind, and high humidity. With proper maintenance, and regular inspections, a typical roof will last about 15- 20 years, but a damaging hail or windstorm can drastically harm your roof at any age.

Can I upgrade my roof system?

Absolutely! Your insurance company may only pay you for the current shingle that you have, but we have a couple of options available if you prefer an upgraded shingle. Ask your Choice Roofing representative how!

Is Choice Roofing insured?

Yes, Choice Roofing is fully insured.
